Formal Education: NOCN Approved Centre
Hull Sisters achieved official accreditation as an approved NOCN centre to deliver recognised ESOL and functional skills training. Gaining accredited centre status enables us to offer structured, high-quality learning pathways tailored to women for whom English is a second language. This certification provides participants with tangible qualifications, paving the way for greater independence, active civic integration, and sustainable local employment.
Vital Legal Advocacy: Batley Law Immigration Surgeries
To support women navigating complex legal systems, Hull Sisters established a key partnership with Batley Law Solicitors. Every Thursday between 9 am and 3 pm, two qualified, experienced solicitors run a free drop-in clinic providing specialist counsel on immigration, asylum, and refugee status, particularly for survivors of domestic abuse. With multilingual interpretation available in Urdu, Pashto, Farsi, Dari, and Arabic, the surgery has handled over 100 cases, securing urgent legal protection for vulnerable families.
Dignity and Equality: Hey Girls Donation Partnership
In 2022, Hull Sisters became an official donation partner for Hey Girls, taking direct action against period poverty. Through this initiative, we provide free, unlimited, and discreet menstrual products to all women who visit our hub, no questions asked. Removing the financial burden of essential biological hygiene directly promotes equality, personal dignity, and physical health
Higher Education Ties: Student Volunteer Placements
Our operational capacity is significantly bolstered through active academic collaborations with the University of Hull and the University of Lincoln. Hull Sisters hosts university student placements across psychology, social care, and healthcare programmes. Safeguarding Standards: Sector Connect Training
To ensure service-user safety remains at national standards, Sector Connect (delivered through Hull CVS and the North Bank Forum) provided on-site certified safeguarding training at our centre. This professional development guarantees that all frontline staff and DBS-checked volunteers are thoroughly equipped to identify vulnerability, manage disclosures, and handle crisis situations effectively.
