In September 2021, the Hull Daily Mail published an extensive feature highlighting Hull Sisters’ milestone move into a new premises granted by Hull City Council, alongside an urgent appeal for community funding.
Following a year-long struggle where services had to operate from our founder Sonia’s home kitchen, the charity was allocated a dedicated building on Temple Street. While this was a massive step forward, the disused unit required extensive refurbishment—including installing ventilation, setting up an operational community kitchen, and covering steep annual running costs such as utilities, building insurance, and safety compliance.
The Hull Daily Mail’s report shared the excitement and relief of the women and children we support, while amplifying our appeal to local residents, businesses, and community allies to help turn the empty building into a warm, safe, and fully functional lifeline for women across Hull.
